Ed Helm Loses re-election bid for Pinellas Democratic DEC Bid by Mitch E. Perry
Last night, Pinellas County Democrats dumped their Chairman, Ed Helm, after just 4 months on the job.
Toni Molinaro beat Helm handily last night at the Pinellas County Democratic Executive Committee Meeting in Largo, taking 142 votes to Helmââ¬â¢s 72.
For Helm, his Chairmanship was a short one. The Democratic candidate who lost to Mayor Rick Baker a year ago, Helm had certainly ruffled feathers within the party. He took over from Carrie Wadlinger, who quit the post this summer.
The St. Petersburg Times reported today that a number of locally elected Pinellas Democrats, such as State Senator Charlie Justice, Representative Bill Heller, and County Commissioners Calvin Harris and Ken Welch, all came to last nightââ¬â¢s DEC meeting in Largo to observe the vote ââ¬â all came in support of Molinaro.
