Protests against the war take place in Sarasota and Spring Hill by Mitch E. Perry

The biggest anti-war rally in the area was Saturday in Sarasota on Saturday, where approximately 500 people gathered in Bayfront Park.
The keynote address was made by Iraq war veteran & Sarasota resident Aidan Delgado, who became a conscientious objector to the war in April of 2003, during his deployment to Iraq.
He has a written a book about his experiences that will be published in June.

Sarasota’s Mayor, Fred Atkins, also spoke on Saturday, and said he was there to tell the truth (roll tape#2 o.q. “to remove me”)

Meanwhile, at a demonstration in Spring Hill on Saturday, right across the street from the Weeki Watchee Spring Park, an Army Veteran who says he recently returned from Iraq, attacked some antiwar protestors.
That’s according to Brian Moore, from the Nature Coast Coalition for Peace and Justice.
He said there were about 7 protestors who were confronted by the man
