NRDC on Global Warming in Sports

2 weeks ago, one of the nation’s oldest and most respected sports magazines, Sports Illustrated, devoted its cover story to Global Warming and Sports.
The cover featured the Florida Marlins star pitcher, Dontrell Willis, standing in Dolphins stadium in Miami in knee deep water. One of the articles in the publication showed a map of what rising sea levels ultimately putting Tropicana Field and Raymond James Stadiums underwater in the future.
Eben Burnham-Synder is the Senior Communications Associate for Climate and Energy at the Nuclear Resources Defense Council, or NRDC. His organization has recently worked with the Philadelphia Eagles to improve their environmental profile, and says his group will announce plans by other major league sports teams soon on what they are doing to combat global climate change (roll tape#1 o.q.”the game will stay the same”)
