Barack Obama brought his political campaign to Tallahassee today.  And with it, came predictable criticism from the State GOP.

Although it has been said that the freshman Senator from Illinois is a media darling, in fact press coverage  has begun to get much tougher in recent days.

There have been charges that he has embellished, or simply made up events in his 1995 memoir, “Dreams from My Father”.  And the Associated Press earlier this week asked in a headline, “Is Obama all style and little substance”.

Jim Greer is the spokesman for the Florida Republican Party.  He alluded to those recent newspaper stories in a statement released today  (roll tape#1 o.q.”not mislead them”)

Several bloggers have attacked the mainstream media’s recent coverage, comparing it to what happened to Howard Dean when his candidacy began to ascend 4 years ago.

But a mainstream magazine writer who is singing Obama’s praises is noted conservative William Kristol.  IN a column in the new Time Magazine titled, “In 2008 It’s Ronald Reagan vs. Bobby Kennedy” Kristol says Robert F.Kennedy, is the liberal democrats dream candidate, and says Barack Obama is the candidate of the moment that fills that archetype.

Bob Buckhorn is a Democratic Party political consultant and commentator for Bay News 9.  He says that it may be too early to call Obama the next “Bobby Kennedy” (roll tape#2 o.q.”it would be Hilary Clinton”)

That’s political consultant and Bay News 9 commentator Bob Buckhorn, speaking about Barack Obama.  Senator Obama will make his first political campaign appearance in Tampa next month, speaking in Ybor City.
