THE FCC WILL HOLD HEARINGS IN TAMPA TO DISCUSS MEDIA OWNERSHIP
Next Monday in Tampa the Federal Communications Commission will hold a seven-hour public hearing on media ownership. In recent years the FCC has relaxed ownership rules to allow more companies to own multiple media outlets. In some towns a single company can control much of the area's television, radio and newspapers. Here to discuss the ownership rules are FCC commissioner Michael Copps and Wayne Garcia who's cover story in this week's CREATIVE LOAFING newspaper previews the hearings. This is a rare opportunity to give testimony to the FCC, only six such hearings are being held in the country.
