WMNF Drive-Time News Thursday | Listen to this entire show:
On Monday, Donnie James White was arrested in Tampa for public desecration of an American flag. But today he was released from jail after prosecutors said that that the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled the state law against flag mutilation unconstitutional. White is the third person to be arrested under this law by the Tampa Police Department since 1999. Becky Steele is the Director of the West Central Florida Regional Office of the ACLU. She told WMNF’s Seán Kinane that the prosecutors did the right thing by releasing White.
“Well, our position is we’re happy the State Attorney’s office has done the right thing. …if they know what the law is going in.”
That was WMNF’s Seán Kinane speaking today with Becky Steele the Director of the West Central Florida Regional Office of the ACLU.
