At the Climate Change Summit in Miami earlier this month, Florida Governor Chalrie Crist targeted state power companies to provide 20% of all their energy supply from renewable energy sources.
Federal legislation targeting roughly the same standard will come up for a vote in the House of Representatives next week. The Bill, HR 969, has received bipartisan support. However, its chances in the Senate are questionable.
That’s according to Anna Aurelio, who directs the Washington DC office of the U.S. Public Interest Research Group, or US PIRG.
