Next week the House of Representatives will vote on bi-partisan legislation that could increase fuel economy standards in cars and trucks to 35 miles per gallon by 2020.
The Senate has already passed a similar bill. If it were to happen, it would be the first time in over 30 years that there has been an increase in what is known as CAFÉ standards.
But there is another bill in the House, that aims for a lower target, and will take longer to get there.
Today, local and national advocates for the bill sponsored by Massachusetts Democratic Representative Ed Markey and Pennsylvania Republican Todd Platts urged Florida lawmakers to support that bill, and not the alternative.
