William Cope Moyers is the son of legendary journalist Bill Moyers. He was also an accomplished newspaper reporter himself, first in Dallas and later in St. Paul, before moving to Atlanta for CNN.
During that time, he was also became seriously addicted to drugs. Cocaine, crack cocaine, specifically. No fewer than four times did he try to get clean before it finally dawned on him that he would soon be dead if he didnâ€™t change his life.
He tells his story in his memoir, Broken: My Story of Addiction and Redemption, just published in paperback.
In the second part of our interview, Moyers talked about the power of addiction and how he was finally able to help others. He has been clear for the past 12 years.
