Labor Day was observed throughout the country, and in Tampa yesterday.
Andy Stern is president of the 1.8 million-member Service Employees International Union, or SEIU.
After launching a national debate about the fundamental change needed to unite the nine out of 10 American workers who have no organization at work, Stern led SEIU out of the AFL-CIO and founded Change to Win, a new 6-million member federation of seven major unions dedicated to giving workers a voice at their jobs.
Last month in Chicago, Stern was interviewd at the Yearly Kos Convention by Harold Meyerson, editor at large for the American Prospect, and a columnist with the Washington Post. Stern shared his thoughts on manufacturing jobs in the U.S.
We’ll hear more from this interview later this week on WMNF.
