Farmworkers group targets Burger King
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) is organizing another campaign, this time to call on Burger King to buy tomatoes from growers who pay farmworkers a fairer wage.
The organization has already won victories from McDonaldâs and Yum Brands, the parent company of Taco Bell. The companies agreed to only buy tomatoes from growers who pay workers double the rate that has been in effect for more than two decades. They are seeking a code of conduct from the company and better communication between farmworkers, growers and the corporations that buy agricultural products.
Weâre joined by Gerardo Reyes; Cruz Salucio and Osabio Rodriguez of the CIW.
