Tonight on WEDU public television, the premiere of a new documentary about Floridaâ€™s rise from being the southern state with the smallest population prior to World War II to the fourth largest state in the country.
Weâ€™re joined by USF history professor Gary Mormino whose book "Land of Sunshine, State of Dreams" inspired tonightâ€™s documentary. The documentary was produced by the Florida Humanities Council. (Full disclosure here: my wife Janine Farver is the director of the Humanities Council.) The filmmaker is Larry Elliston and itâ€™s narrated by Ed Asner.
The film, â€œThe Florida Dreamâ€ premieres at 9 p.m. on WEDU and is followed by a live panel discussion.
