The Communist Party announced a new leadership lineup today that anoints two future leaders of the country and slightly increases the authority of President Hu Jintao.
The announcements were made at the close of the party’s 17th National Congress.
Elizabeth Economy is director of Asia Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations and an expert on China-U.S. relations. She’s also a contributor to a new book published by National Geographic called Inside China.
She has written about about the transformation of China’s geography, a transformation that she says will revolutionize the country in the upcoming decade.
And Elizabeth Economy says the country is in the middle of relocating no fewer than 300,000,000 people. WMNF spoke to her over the weekend, and asked her about this enormous social experiment. We’ll hear more from her tomorrow night about China.
