Individuals in Florida can give a maximum of $500 to a candidate of their choice in an election.
However, there are absolutely no limits as to how much a citizen can give to third-party groups, groups that can that raise thousands, even millions of dollars within days and often used in campaigns for hit pieces.
Currently those groups – called electioneering communication organizations- have to report the money to state and list how it was spent – but often don't until after an election is over.
Now, Pinellas and Hillsborough Sen. Charlie Justice wants to do something about that. He has introduced Bill 810 in the state Senate. WMNF asked him about the bill today.
