Hillsborough Planning Commissioner Robert Hunter today failed to get $100,000 appropriated to his agency for a new study for the year 2050.
Commissioner Brian Blair asked if it was possible to fully assess what the county will need in four decades?
Hunter said that his concern now is that road builders are trying to reserve rights of way without a lot of land use input.
Commissioner Jim Norman said with the budget woes the county is facing, and could face if Amendment One passes later this month, now was not the time to fund the Planning Commission’s request.
Norman said the Commission should hold off funding the study until the results of the property tax cut plan are known in a few weeks.
But commissioners Rose Ferlita and Mark Sharpe said there was no reason to delay getting the money.
The Board voted 5-2 to delay considering allocating the $100,000 until March.
