WMNF Drive-Time News Friday | Listen to this entire show:
The federal Clean Water Act has provided pollution safeguards to rivers and other waters for more than 30 years. But in its current form, there are questions about whether so-called “isolated” waters such as wetlands are protected by the act.
Congress is now considering an upgrade of that act, which explicitly protects isolated wetlands. A new survey of rural voters was commissioned by the environmental advocacy group Earthjustice to find out peoples’ opinions about protecting wetlands and other waters.
Today WMNF spoke with Joan Mulhern, who is senior legislative ccounsel for Earthjustice to find out the results and why they conducted the poll.
