Cuban President Fidel Castro has announced he is resigning from the government because of his health. For 50 years he has bucked the United States, charting a path toward socialism and a foreign policy frequently at odds with Washington.

Today we talked with Patrick Manteiga, editor and publisher of La Gaceta, a trilingual newspaper published in Ybor City with strong ties to the local Cuban community. Manteiga discussed the U.S. embargo, the effect on Cuban families, the presidential candidate's stance on Cuba and how the two countries might finally shed their 50 years of adversity.
