If the National Rifle Association gets its way, you’ll soon see loaded guns in America’s national parks.
A proposal to do just that was offered late last year by Oklahoma Republican Sen. Tom Coburn. He had more than 50 sponsors in the U.S. Senate, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid quashed the idea.
But according to Scott McElveen, president of the Association of National Park Rangers, the Bush Administration will put the change into law. He says one reason his group is against the proposal is they fear poaching in national parks.
