Conservative case for environmentalism04/09/08 Robert Lorei
WMNF Drive-Time News Wednesday | Listen to this entire show:
Coming up today we’ll hear about a new book by conservative icon Newt Gingrich about his support for a variety of environmental initiatives.
Later we’ll open up the phone lines.
First up, a listener comment about yesterday’s interview with Bernard Lafayette a civil rights pioneer who worked with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Newt Gingrich, the conservative former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, has co-written a book called A Contract with the Earth. It aims to convince fellow conservatives that environmentalism is something positive and should not be dismissed, as it is by many conservatives.
The co-author is Terry Maple, a former president and CEO of Zoo Atlanta and who currently is the CEO of the Palm Beach Zoo. Maple will be speaking in Sarasota tomorrow. The lecture takes place on April 10th 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Selby Public Library in the Geldbart Auditorium.
Earlier today I spoke with Maple about the book and how he met Newt Gingrich.
