Hillsborough transportation agency head quits listen04/12/08 Mitch E. Perry
WMNF Drive-Time News Friday
A week after a Hillsborough County Commissioner said she needed to go, the director of Hillsborough's transportation agency has stepped down.
Lucie Ayre has been the executive director of the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the past 13 years. She will now transfer to the position of programs administrator.
Ayre's world was rocked 10 days ago, when Commissioner Mark Sharpe told the Tampa Tribune that he thought Ayre needed to move on. That didn't go over well with his colleagues on the MPO board like Temple Terrace Mayor Joe Affronti.
Tampa City Councilman John Dingfelder expressed suprise at Sharpe's comments at the time.
Nevertheless, Ayre is no longer the board's executive director.
WMNF was not able to reach Ayre today for comment.
