The cover story in this week's WEEKLY PLANET alleges that former WP senior editor John Sugg is frequently heard on the wiretaps the FBI is using in the prosecution of former USF professor Sami Al-Arian. Al-Arian is awaiting trial on several charges, including raising money for terrorist groups. Sugg was our guest on this segment and he says the FBI wants to question him about what he knows about Al-Arian (especially whether Al-Arian ever lied to the press). Sugg says he will not co-operate with the government, but he has a suggestion: the lying and terrorist connections are in plain sight. He says local media outlets have miss-reported the facts of the Al-Arian case. And if the federal prosecutors are looking for terrorist related activity- they might look within the U.S. Attorney's office in the Middle District of Florida where one of the assistant U.S. attorneys co-owns a local bar that has been used to raise funds for Sinn Fein and the Irish Republican Army. Both groups having alleged terrorist connections.
