Democrat Kevin Beckner is running to try to oust Brian Blair on the Hillsborough County Commission. But first, he has to defeat two opponents who – unlike himself – have sought countywide office. Environmental activist Denise Layne and entrepreneur Joe Redner are also running in the District 6 race.

Friday, WMNF interviewed Layne. Tonight, we spoke with Kevin Beckner, a certified financial planner and an Indiana University graduate. We began our interview by asking him if he was concerned that the other Democrats have a higher name recognition.
