Last month the St. Petersburg City Council approved $12.7 million in incentives for Jabil Circuit even though the deal was so secret that there was no public notice of what was being decided.
Today, WMNF spoke with City Council member Karl Nurse, who is requesting a public workshop to come up with ways the city can be more open despite a state law that forbids disclosing information about secret economic development negotiations with companies.
The council will vote on July 24 whether to hold a public hearing to figure out ways for more openness in secret deals between the city and businesses.
