Good afternoon, welcome to Radioactivity. On today’s program a debate featuring the candidates running for the Democratic nomination for the tenth congressional district. That’s the seat currently held by Republican Bill Young.

Florida is holding a primary election on August 26th. Today we’ll hear from several candidates who will be on the ballot on the Democratic side. Our guests are Max Linn and Samm Simpson, both of whom are running for the Tenth Congressional seat currently held by Republican Bill Young. The district includes much of Pinellas County.
Max Linn was born in St. Petersburg; received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Louisiana Technical Institute; he worked in the financial services industry as a Certified Financial Planner for over 20 years. A native of Pinellas County Max Linn was the president and founder of “Florida Citizens for Term Limits”. He ran for Governor in 2006 as a member of the Reform Party.
Samm Simpson was born in Iowa. She’s worked as a writer, broadcaster, producer and director; she worked for Raymond James from 1984 to 2001. She’s a graduate of Eckerd College. This is her second run for this congressional seat- having run in 2006.
A third candidate, Bob Hackworth, the mayor of Dunedin was invited- but he had a mayor's council meeting until 1:30 this afternoon. We've invited him to call-in at that time and take part in the debate.
