Tampa area Congresswoman Kathy Castor announced today that her pressure on the Social Security Administration to expedite disability claims in the Tampa Bay area has resulted in some positive developments . The wait for those who file for disability has expanded increased dramatically in the past decade. According to Castor's office, backlogged disability claims in the Social Security Administration’s processing system has doubled to about 576,000 cases over the past 10 years. In July, Castor introduced legislation to expedite the claims process.
