Dr. Carol Roberts’ Holiday gift to you is a table of homeopathic remedies for common conditions. Homeopathics are listed in the United States Pharmacopaeia and are FDA approved. They are generally regarded as safe, are sold over the counter in health food stores and some pharmacies, and do not interact with pharmaceutical drugs. They are extremely diluted substances which are always made from natural sources. They are safe for infants and children and work equally well for pets.

The following is a list of some of my favorite homeopathic remedies, along with a few of the conditions they may be used for. It is a mistake to think of these remedies in the same way we think of ordinary drugs. They are really energy (i.e. information for your own energy field) and work in a similar fashion as a song – changing your mood through vibrations of sound. If you’ve never tried it you’re in for a big surprise! If you get the right remedy it will reverse an illness in its tracks, without side effects, without risk, without the necessity of seeing a doctor. It is true guerilla medicine, the medicine of the people.

Of course, you must use common sense. If you’ve tried a remedy for six doses and nothing has changed, please see a doctor. If you have a true emergency on your hands, take your remedy on your way to the emergency room. You may be better before you get there, but at the very least it won’t harm you as long as you don’t lose time waiting for it to work.

In the influenza epidemic of 1917-18, the people treated with homeopathic remedies recovered in 85 percent of cases, while those treated with the conventional medicine of the times died 50 percent of the time.

Homeopathy is a powerful tool that is accessible to everyone.

Remedy Condition

Aconite…….…sudden unexpected onset of any illness (flu, cold, stomach pain, etc.)

Allium cepa (onion)…….a cold with irritating watery nasal discharge, burning eyes

Arnica Montana…….bruising, blunt trauma, head trauma, soreness after a workout

Belladonna……….fever, sunburn, strep throat - conditions of redness, heat, dryness

Borax…………………………………cold sores, Herpes mouth ulcers

Cantharis (Spanish fly)……………………….. urinary infections with burning pain

Coffea cruda (unroasted coffee bean)……………insomnia due to an overactive mind

Cuprum metallicum (copper)…………………………...muscle spasms

Hypericum perforatum (St. John’s wort)…….post-herpetic neuralgia (shingles pain)

Kali bichromium………………………..sinus infection with thick yellow discharge

Ledum palustre……………………….insect bites, puncture wounds

Nux vomica…………………………………hangovers, reactions to toxic exposures

Oscillococcinum……………………...……………..influenza remedy

Thuja occidentalis……......…prevents reactions after vaccination

Remedies are usually taken in the form of small pellets, two or three of which are dissolved under the tongue for each dose. Available strengths (potencies) are usually low, - 6, 12 or 30, representing the number of times the original remedy has been diluted. Since potencies can go up into the thousands, these are considered low potencies and in the acute situation any of these potencies will work.

A dose should be given some time to work, but in an acute situation may be repeated every five minutes up to six times before trying some other remedy or a different treatment. More often the remedy will begin to work and then plateau after a while. A remedy should be repeated when it stops working, not, as with drugs, on a regular schedule. Sometimes a single dose is enough to “finish” the illness.

There are many thousands more remedies, and the uses of them are complex and fascinating. This list is intended to give you an introduction to this school of medicine. More information and links to websites on homeopathy can be found at www.homeopathyhome.com.

Dr who Accepts Humana Prime (military)

Good afternoon, I'm looking to change my primary care provider? I would like to find a Homeopathic Dr., preferably in the Feathersound-Clearwater area who will accept Tri-Care Prime (Military) insurance? I'm having some trouble locating a list of Dr.'s on the WMNF website? Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Ivory
