Minnesota's Keith Ellison on situation in Gaza01/05/09 Mitch E. Perry
WMNF Drive-Time News Monday | Listen to this entire show:
A recent Rasmussen poll shows the American public far less indulgent of Israeli aggression than many previously believed.
Opinion on the bombing of Gaza is fairly evenly divided, showing 44 percent support Israel's military action against the Palestinians and 41 percent saying it should have tried to find a diplomatic solution to the problems.
A majority of Democrats – 55 percent - say Israel should have tried to find a diplomatic solution first; a view shared by just 27 percent of Republicans.
Contrary to the results, yesterday top Senate Democrats Harry Reid and Dick Durban said they completely supported Israel in its actions.
Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison is one Democrat speaking out, and he says there have been a few others. The only Muslim lawmaker in Washington spoke on Friday on WMNF’s True Talk program with Ahmed Bedier and Samar Jarrah.
