New collection analyzes every presidential inauguration speech
An aide to Barack Obama told Politico yesterday that the President-elect is nearly done with preparing for his inauguration speech next Tuesday. With at least three drafts behind him, the aid says Obama is striving for a tone that’s ‘soaring but accessible, simple but inspiring, urgent but confident all at once.
Last week Obama delivered a major address on the U.S. economy that was heavy with concrete details. Earlier this week, we spoke with Terry Golway, the co editor of the new book, “Fellow Citizens: The Penguin Book of U.S. Presidential Inaugural Addressesâ€, and asked him if it was safe to assume that Obama’s inauguration speech won’t be so wonkish? (roll tape# 1o.q.â€particularly memorableâ€)
That’s Terry Golway, co-editor of the new book, “Fellow Citizens:The Penguin Book of U.S. Presidential Inaugural Addressesâ€. Barack Obama gives his inauguration speech next Tuesday at 12 noon, and you can hear that address live here on 88.5FM .comments powered by Disqus
