Mandolin Magic Concert set for March 28

The Hungarian American Cultural Association’s benefit concert will take place on March 28 at Glenridge Performing Arts Center in Sarasota.

The Mandolin Magic concert is organized by the Hungarian American Cultural Association Kossuth Club in collaboration with the Sarasota Mandolin Orchestra to provide scholarships for college-bound seniors in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

The orchestra, conducted by Antonina Nigrelli, consists of professional musicians from all over the world who are vacationing in Southwest Florida. The Sarasota Mandolin Orchestra was founded by Lou Paige in 1996. At the beginning it had three members, since then it has grown to 23 players. Its repertoire consists of ethnic music ragtime, light classical and operatic pieces.

Kisvarsányi Bognár Éva, executive director of the Hungarian American Cultural Association, said the organization provided $58,000 in scholarships and other financial help nationally and internationally. For more information and tickets, contact Joe Vegliante at (941) 346-1154.

Mandolin Concert

Hi Andrea: This is Cathy. I listened to the 3/23 interview you taped and it was great. However,I also listened to the evening news clip that was on your page,Monday I assume between 6 and 7 p.m. It was an hour show, but we were not on. After that a bluegrass musical program started, so please let me know when our Mandolin Concert was announced on the air.
