A body found in a car last Tuesday in the parking lot of an apartment complex off Memorial Highway was identified as 26-year-old Michael Wachholtz. Michael who was found wrapped in a sheet in the back of his Jeep Cherokee was one of two gay men who have been missing since Dec. 20. The other person, Jason Gailhouse has been missing for over three weeks now Last Saturday afternoon, members of the Gay Community in Tampa held a Town Hall Meeting to discuss their concern about whether these events are related, and if so, what might that mean for the community…. Last Saturday, Tampa Police Major Jane Castro, Detective Chip DeBlock & Chief of Police Steve Hogue joined the Bay area’s Gay community and as well as friends and family of Jason Gailhouse, at the Equality Florida Center on Swann Avenue in South Tampa.. Equality Florida plans to meet with Attorney General Charlie Crist to discuss what it sees as an emerging pattern in Florida of hate crimes against gays. Nadine Smith is the executive director of Equality Florida.

At the meeting, Detective Chip DeBlock, lead investigator in the Galehouse case, said there is nothing linking Michael Wachholtz's death and Jason Galehouse's disappearance at this time. (Take 4) Eric Bunch is Jason Galehouse’s best friend. (Take 2) Major Jane Castro of Tampa Police Department (Take 6) Tampa Chief of Police Steve Hogue said, “This was a particularly sensitive investigation in the sense that we don’t know where it is going to lead.
