A new ABC/Washington Post survey shows that a majority of Americans support health care reform, yet are suspicious of its impact.
The poll shows that 62 percent support a government funded entity to offer health insurance to those who don’t get it elsewhere- but if that were to cause private insurers to go out of business, as critics charge, support plummets to 37 percent.
Jessica Pemble is with FCAN, the Florida Consumer Action Network based in Tampa. She was headed to Washington this afternoon to participate in a series of events with other activists groups pushing for a public option in any health care reform package.
On Saturday, FCAN will be one of the sponsors a health fair for health care, that will take place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Julian Lane Riverfront Park, 1001 North Blvd. in Tampa. There will be opportunities to get registration information for children to get signed up to Florida Kid Care, as well as a blood drive and a chance for adults get screened for cholesterol, Iron and Blood pressure.
