From A Woman's Point of View
Dr. Marcia Angell, senior lecturer at Harvard Medical School and the first woman editor of the New England Journal of Medicine, talked about the problems with health care reform if the profits of the health care industries were not to be discussed. She is well known for her writings about the drug industry, and her book The Truth About Drug Companies: How They Deceive Us and What To Do About It was widely read and discussed. She is very frank about her perceptions that the medical system is broken and that the problems will continue unless the profit motive of treating disease are challenged.
