From A Woman's Point of View

Jane Hamsher, American film producer, author and blogger. As a filmmaker, her best known film is Natural Born Killers.

But we talked to her in her capacity as founder and publisher of the progressive blog, FireDogLake. She is sitting by her fireplace with her dog watching the Lakers. This progressive blog is perhaps one of the most interactive and stimulating in the blogosphere. With twitter, they managed to get the most up to date accounts of the Plame affair.

Hear her talk about what people, particularly progressives, need to do now regarding health care legislation.

Arlene and Mary, Hooray on having the clip Ted Kennedy's speech on health care, as well as the interview on health care. So very important!!! I want each and every one of your listeners to contact their representatives--both in the senate and congress--and urge them to pass single-payer health care reform. I know that many will think, "I'm only one person, what difference can I make?" But I can attest that each and every one of us can make a difference! While an undergrad at USFSP's journalism department (grad. 2009), I did independent research in which I started an independent video documentary. At one point, I contacted Rep. Bill Young's office; the next day, Harry Glenn (Young's media person) called back to answer my questions. When I asked how much difference one person can make by contacting their representatives, Mr. Glenn answered, "A lot!!!" He informed me that Young had helped sponsor numerous bills simply because enough people called to say that an issue was important to them!!!. Call. Write. Let your voices be heard. If you don't speak about what is important, how will anyone know??? Yes, you may read this on the air.
