Loose Change Director discusses '9/11 Truther' Movement listen09/11/09 Mitch E. Perry
WMNF Drive-Time News Friday | Listen to this entire show:
In the months and years since the terrorist attacks, there has been an element in this country who have believed the events of September 11th were pre-determined.
Such explosive charges are often considered to be outside acceptable mainstream discussion.
Van Jones, the Obama administration’s point man for Green jobs, stepped down from his position last weekend, in part after it was reported that he had signed a petition put out by the 9/11 Truth movement urging a further investigation into the World Trade Center attacks.
The petition said that "unanswered questions ... suggest that people within the current administration may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war,"
Dylan Avery is the director of the film “Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup”, which will be distributed on DVD later this month. The film analyzes steps the country took after the attacks, and some of the events that a press release for the film calls “suspicious events that followed”. It’s the latest in a series of such films.
In March 2007, the United States Department of State published an article called "Loose Change Debunked" in which it says that the movie makes "sloppy mistakes". The article is highly critical of the evidence cited to support the claim that Flight 77 did not hit the Pentagon, and it criticizes the controlled-demolition hypothesis of the World Trade Center, claiming that "Demolition professionals say controlled demolition of the Towers that day would have been impossible."
WMNF spoke this morning with the director of the Loose Change series, Dylan Avery.
