President Barack Obama arrived in Pittsburgh this afternoon for the G20 summit. But minutes before Air Force One landed, police in the city began throwing canisters of tear gas and sound bombs at demonstrators.
The marchers chose to not get a city permit; therefore police have declared the march an “unlawful assembly.”
Police used a loudspeaker to play an announcement telling people to disburse or they would face arrest or "other police action," according to the Associated Press.
During the attack, WMNF spoke with Reverend Bruce Wright. Wright is a homeless advocate with the Poor Peoples’ Economic Human Rights Campaign and Refuge Ministries in St. Petersburg.
