St. Petersburg voters go to the polls in less than two weeks. In addition to Mayor, they will select five City Council members.
Even though during last month’s primary election voters could only choose from Council candidates in their own district, during the November general election all St. Petersburg registered voters can vote for all five contested seats.
Today WMNF continues our series of interviews with all ten candidates for City Council - with the District 6 race. It’s between challenger Vel Thompson and the incumbent, Council member Karl Nurse. Nurse was one of the five members of Council who voted last week to give BayWalk the sidewalk where protesters have gathered.
In a St. Petersburg Times/Bay News 9 poll released over the weekend, Nurse had a 33 percent to 14 percent lead over his Thompson.
Tune in next week for the third part of our coverage where we will hear from the District 5 candidates for St. Pete City Council.
The election is November 3rd and all St. Pete residents can vote in all five district races.
