A group of enterprising students at the University of South Florida is working on a project that could potentially keep millions of plastic bottles out of landfills and save a million dollars a year.
The members of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) plan to have filtering systems installed on some the Tampa campus’s most popular water fountains.
The idea has also attracted the attention of retail giant Wal-Mart which gave the project a $6,000 grant. Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton also founded Students in Free Enterprise. Eric Rosenthal is Associate Director of SIFE.
