Radioactivity: Live Call-In (Thursday) | Listen to this entire show:
Our guest for this segment: Maryland State Police Major Neill Franklin.
In an article he published on AlterNet this week, Franklin talks about the recent killing of a Mexican drug kingpin, and how this will do nothing to slow down the flow of drugs or stop the violence.
A recent survey cited on Vision Critical shows that 53% of the American public now believes that marijuana should be legalized and the U.S. Congress de facto approval of Medical marijuana. Senate negotiators agreed this month to the final details of the FY 2010 Consolidated Appropriations Act containing language that will finally allow Washington, D.C. to implement the medical marijuana initiative that voters overwhelmingly approved in 1998 but has been blocked by Congress each year since. In addition, the District will now even be able to use federal funds to implement syringe exchange programs.
