District 58 write in candidate Jose Vazquez hopes for a shot at Tallahassee listen

Tomorrow is the special election to fill the State House seat that was left empty when Michael Scionti left for a position in the Obama administration’s Department of Defense.

Hunter Chamberlin is the Republican nominee for State House District 58.

Janet Cruz-Rifkin, who won last month’s Democratic primary, did not respond our requests for an interview.

Jose Vazquez is a write-in candidate.

February 19, 2010 - Tampa, FL - Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, Earl Lennard , reminds voters that the Special General Election for State House District 58 is Tuesday, February 23, 2010.

The Special General Election is open to all eligible registered voters in State House, District 58. Sample ballots may be found online at http://www.VoteHillsborough.org.

The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eligible voters in line at 7:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Voters may confirm their polling site locations by visiting the Precinct Finder at http://www.VoteHillsborough.org.

Polling sites for six precincts have been temporarily relocated because the regular sites were not available for this special election. The affected precincts, old sites and new sites are listed below:

Precinct 147 Old Polling Site - Greater Tampa Association of Realtors New Polling Site - Fellowship Masonic Lodge, 306 N. Lincoln Avenue

Precinct 221 Old Polling Site - Gateway Baptist Church New Polling Site - St. John Presbyterian Church, 4120 N. MacDill Avenue

Precinct 223 Old Polling Site - West Hillsborough Baptist Church New Polling Site - Oak Grove Church of God, 6830 N. Habana Avenue

Precinct 231 Old Polling Site - St. Paul Lutheran Church New Polling Site - Northeast United Methodist Church, 6400 N. 15th Street

Precinct 247 Old Polling Site - Bethanie French Seventh Day Adventist Church New Polling Site - Forest Hills Community Center, 724 W. 109th Avenue

Precinct 451 Old Polling Site - Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal M I New Polling Site - Oak Grove Church of God, 6830 N. Habana Avenue

Voters are advised to bring current and valid signature and photo identification to expedite the voting process.

Voters who received a Vote By Mail (absentee) ballot but who wish to vote at their precinct on Election Day are advised to bring their Vote By Mail ballot with them to the polling site so that a poll worker can cancel the Vote By Mail ballot.

House District 58 represents 49 precincts in parts of West Tampa, Town n Country and Seminole Heights. Also affected are parts of Oak Grove, Egypt Lake, Wellswood and the Floriland Mall area.
