DAVID BROCK INTERVIEW - Mitch Perry

05/25/04

Journalist David Brock first became known after his devastating attack on Anita Hill,

In his 1993 book, "The Real Anita Hill," where his description of the former associate of Supreme Court Justice "As a little bit nutty, a little bit slutty", made him a favorite of the conservative Right...

He followed that up with the first published story about Paula Jones, the Arkansas woman whose sexual harassment suit against President Clinton ultimately led to the

President's impeachment back in 1998....

But in 1996, Brock confused and alienated his fellow conservatives when he turned in a book about Hillary Clinton that wasn't as venomous as his previous work had amounted to...In 1997, he denounced his ties to the Right....That was all captured in his 2002 book,

'Blinded by the Right"...

Now Brock has a new book out, "The Republican Noise Machine: Right Wing Media and how it corrupts America", where he attacks the conservative media organs in the country, like Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, and Matt Drudge...He also contributes to a new website that combats the conservative media, called Media Matters. Org...

WMNF spoke to Brock last Friday....We asked.him about Air America, the new liberal talk radio network...About the think tank the Center for America Progress, which admits it hopes for the success of the conservative Heritage Foundation, as well as Media Matters.Org - all a case of the left trying to catch up to the Conservative Media Machine...Is it too late? (roll tape#1 o.q."that breaks been complete") That's journalist David Brock, author of the new book, "The Republican Noise Machine"... We spoke with him last Friday.
