State Rep. Darryl Rouson (D-St. Pete) favors a constitutional ban on drilling in Florida waters.
Governor Charlie Crist has said he wants to call a special session of the Florida Legislature to discuss oil drilling. The Legislature could place an amendment on November’s ballot that, if passed by citizens, would forever ban fossil fuel drilling in state waters.
Rep. Darryl Rouson (D), who represents parts of St. Petersburg in the state Legislature, told WMNF he supports a constitutional ban on drilling in Florida waters, but thinks agreement should be reached before taking the time to hold a special session.
We spoke with Rouson Wednesday at the oil spill incident command center in St. Pete before he met with Governor Crist and representatives from BP and the Coast Guard.
