Since the blowout at Deepwater Horizon, it has been revealed that the companies involved in the well’s operation had been less than diligent when it comes to safety regulation.

Investigative journalist Greg Palast has known this for some time. Palast investigated the Exxon Valdez disaster for a community of native Alaskans and found that BP had a hand in it. He wrote about his experience for WMNF’s Kate Bradshaw recently spoke with Palast, who said that BP prefers to spend money on political influence over safety, and doesn’t take kindly to whistle-bowing.
