According to several press reports, Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill McCollum is attempting to back away from his statement that gays should not be allowed to become foster parents in Florida.
Earlier, the Attorney General told the Florida Baptist Witness that gays shouldn’t be foster parents, but many are shocked at that statement.
That includes Shelbi Day, a staff attorney on the LGBT Advocacy Project with the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida.
Day also praised the American Bar Association, which adopted a resolution supporting marriage equality.
