Pastor Terry Jones issued a moratorium to the New York City imam behind the so-called Ground Zero Mosque today. He asked the imam to speak with him about moving the site of the proposed Muslim community center. The imam did not respond, but Jones has said he plans to travel to New York tonight to speak with him.
Whether or not the burnings take place, St. Pete for Peace will caravan to Gainesville tomorrow for a peace vigil. Dina Formentini, that organization’s executive director, said it’s better to be there if it doesn’t happen than the other way around.
The City of Gainesville is also going forward with its original plans to boost security throughout the Central Florida town.
