Radioactivity: Live Call-In (Tuesday) | Listen to this entire show:
First up today, a new IMAX film about Saudi Arabia premiers this week at The Museum Of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Tampa. Our guest served as an adviser to the film.
Robert Lacey is author of the best-selling book The Kingdom, which is a look at the recent history of Saudi Arabia. Lacey is a distinguished British journalist and historian and the author of the book Inside The Kingdom: Kings, Clerics, Modernists, Terrorists, and the Struggle for Saudi Arabia, a follow-up to his 1982 bestseller, The Kingdom. In 1979, Robert moved with his family to Saudi Arabia for eighteen months to research The Kingdom, a study of the country’s complex and often paradoxical culture. For the past three years, Robert has split his time between Saudi Arabia and London, gathering material for the sequel, which picks up where The Kingdom left off.
Robert served as a special advisor to the IMAX Theatre film, Arabia. Arabia opens to the public at MOSI’s IMAX® Dome Theatre on Wednesday, October 27. This film follows Hamzah Jamoom, a charismatic film student, as he visits his native country and allows viewers to discover the city of Madain Saleh and its primeval tombs, explore ancient shipwrecks in the Red Sea, experience the Hajj and travel back in time to the Islamic Golden Age of Science. Also joining us are the film makers Greg and Barbara MacGillivray.
