Andrew Weil on Health care; Ken Silverstein on Arizona and Sara Palin on Vitriol01/12/11 Robert Lorei
Radioactivity: Live Call-In (Wednesday) | Listen to this entire show:
Good morning, welcome to Radioactivity. I'm Rob Lorei.
Coming up, interviews with Dr. Andrew Weil on his new book, "You Can't Afford to Get Sick" (Plume) in which he says our health care system is far too expensive and needs to be reformed. He says the causes of the high cost are insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies. Weil advocates less reliance on technology and a re-orientation of the system to provide more integrative medicine and training to show doctors how the body, in many cases, has an amazing capacity to heal itself.
After that we'll get a glimpse of Arizona's budget problems. Why is mental health care being cut in Arizona. Our second guest, Ken Silverstein wrote a piece for Harper's Magazine last year in which he looked at how Arizona's conservative legislature has downsized government with some negative results.
And finally, Sara Palin issued a video press release today giving her response to the debate over the cause of the Tucson massacre. We'll play an excerpt.
