update: late Tuesday night, Nicholas Lemmon Lindsey (who just turned 16 on Feb 13th) turned himself in and confessed to the crime.

Another police officer has been shot and killed in St. Petersburg. In a news conference this afternoon, Police Chief Chuck Harmon said the manhunt continues for the suspect who killed Officer David Crawford late last night.

Harmon said Crawford was issued a bullet-proof vest, but wasn’t wearing it when he was shot.

St. Pete Mayor Bill Foster says there’s one question he keeps hearing over and over.

Last month, two St. Petersburg Police officers were killed by a fugitive hidden in the attic of a home.

Information and video below are from the St. Pete Police:

"The suspect is a black male, late teens or early twenties, 5'9" to 5'11" tall, slender build, wearing a dark-colored hoodie jacket, dark-colored shorts slightly below the knees, white socks and size 10 black/white Nike flip-flops.

"...video taken from The Urban Flats, 327 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South on Monday February 21, 2011 at 8:59 p.m. (roughly an hour and a half prior to the shooting death of Officer Crawford). We believe the individual in this 20 second video may be the suspect in this case, based on the individual's physical description, clothing, location and time of day."

Bad title

He was killed. Saying he was shot doesn't tell the story. Journalism 101.
