Radioactivity: Live Call-In (Monday) | Listen to this entire show:
Good morning, welcome to Radioactivity. I’m Rob Lorei. On the first part of the program this morning- an interview with Pulitzer Prize winning reporter Chris Hedges. For almost 20 years he covered conflicts in Central America, the Middle East, Africa and The Balkans. He’s written a number of best selling books including Death of the Liberal Class and War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning.
His latest book is DAYS OF DESTRUCTION DAYS OF REVOLT (NationBooks) . He and illustrator Joe Sacco take readers to places where the marketplace rules without constraints. It’s look at four decimated communities: Pine Ridge South Dakota, Camden New Jersey, Southern West Virginia and Immokalee Florida. Hedges calls these “sacrifice zones”- where the American Dream- that hard work and sacrifice will be rewarded- is no longer in effect. It’s been replaced by what he calls the virus of corporate abuse- a belief that the only thing that matters is corporate profits. Chris Hedges joins us now.
