Last Call Wednesday | Listen to this entire show:
Welcome to the WMNF afternoon call-in show the Last Call. I’m Seán Kinane.
More than 4000 jobs were cut from the state budget that was recently passed by the Florida Legislature. Tomorrow in the Villages, Governor Scott will sign the budget and announce which line items he is vetoing.
Joining me in our studio today to talk about this is Jason Smith. He’s with the labor union IBEW Local 824 and also with the new group Awake The State.
They have a major statewide gathering on June 4th in Orlando.
Florida's public sector workers will now have to contribute 3% of their salaries to a retirement account, after not getting raises in years, but Smith says they’ll take a hit of much more than 3%.
