Coming up today we’ll talk about the life of former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover who spent about 40 years in that job.

He headed the nation’s foremost law enforcement agency during some of the nation’s most tumultuous times- the Great Depression, World War II, The McCarthy anti-communist era, The Civil Rights Movement, the Kennedy assassination and the Vietnam War. There’s a new film in the theaters about Hoover starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Clint Eastwood.

Our guest is St. Petersburg resident and author Burton Hersh who has written BOBBY AND J EDGAR - a book that looks at the interaction between the Kennedy’s and the then-head of the FBI. Today is also the 48th anniversary of JFK’s assassination.
